We had a dream to replace our ‘knock down’ at Kiama Downs with duplexes.  It was a big decision to choose a builder to help us realise that dream.  Fortunately, we made the right decision to choose Smartbuild Southcoast.

Jake and his team treated us courteously and respectfully from Day One.  Unlike a Project Home company where you can get lost in the system and communication can be problematic, it was so reassuring to have Jake was right there, involved in the project every step on the way.  There was ongoing, honest communication where we felt at ease to ask questions or seek modifications and we were grateful that Jake always gave honest and logical opinions and felt comfortable to suggest alternatives.  At the same time, he remained respectful of our final decisions.

Jake took the time to answer questions during site visits and was patient with us as we checked out the process made.  We were also impressed with the courteous manner with which his team greeted us on site – with a smile or a ‘G’day’.  It’s those little things that make a difference.

Jake delivered ahead of schedule and presented us with a high-quality duplex which we are proud to call our own.  We have received numerous compliments from friends, family and neighbours and we couldn’t be happier.

You helped my parents wade through the complicated requirements from the council and  showed empathy and understanding to my parents when they got frustrated with all the council regulations  and took the time to explain what was required…

Once the building work started we had the pleasure of meeting your workers who are a credit to your company , they showed up for work everyday with a can do attitude, they where polite and very respectful to all my family whilst they where here working and every time a task was finished they cleaned up which is very important to myself as I have young children.

Whilst building the granny flat I asked you to do some home renovations for myself and you took on the extra work without it impacting the work on the granny flat… With both my renovation and the granny flat you and your team did an excellent job, both jobs ran smoothly and  the finished work was excellent both my parents and myself are very happy with our finished projects.

Smartbuild undertook the very extensive renovations at our holiday home in Gerroa. Jake owned the whole project. He kept us fully informed at all times including prospectively as the work progressed.

Under his stewardship Smartbuild delivered. With the pride in their work we were never disappointed. Jake brought to our attention issues about which we would have been oblivious. On one occasion we turned up to find our otherwise perfect ensuite pulled to bits, on challenging Jake he said: “didn’t you notice? Two tiles were chipped, we needed to do it properly.” We had not noticed. This attention to detail and pride in work done is rare in our country and is noteworthy.

In 2016 Jake Brady, builder, and proprietor of Smartbuild South Coast undertook  renovations to our house in Gerringong.  These amounted to removing and replacing its original external fabric, roofing, wall cladding, windows and doors which had all begun to fail after more than 45 years exposure in a seaside location.

Our experiene  with Jake and his team was entirely satisfactory.

  • Undertakings  about the timing of the project and its duration were  met,
  • There have been no issues about the quality of the work,
  • Tradesmen employed appear to have been excellent,
  • Where problems were encountered e.g. with proposed roof extensions, Jake sought architectural advice and consulted closely with us,
  • Matters raised during the work were addressed,
  • There were no surprises,
  • Such issues that have arisen after completion have been addressed promptly,
  • We employed our own electrician to do work made possible when the old roof and wall cladding had been removed and Jake had no  problem with that,
  • The issues which prompted us to engage Jake have been resolved as a result of his work.
